– Get Your Gear. Celebrate your love for garlic by sporting some garlic gear! Check out our apparel page for hats and t-shirts that will surely show your garlic spirit.
– Tools Galore. Sometimes working with garlic bulbs can be time consuming. The peeling, the chopping and don’t forget the scrubbing of your hands afterwards! Well, we can help. We sell a garlic accessory bundle that has everything that you need to prep your garlic with ease! The bundle includes a garlic peeler, mincer and stainless-steel soap.
– Plan a Garlic Potluck. Who doesn’t like a good potluck? Since National Garlic Day is on a weekday this year, it’s a chance to celebrate at work and have a delicious lunch while you’re at it. Start passing around your sign-up sheet and ask your co-workers to bring their favorite garlicky dishes. One tip: you may want to ask someone to bring mints for the end of the meal…
– Give the Gift of Garlic. If you love gift giving and you know other folks who love garlic too, why not share the love! We offer a variety of artisanal goods such as artisanal powders and even garlic pesto that are sure to please. We know they’re all tempting, so feel free to get a gift for yourself too!
– Roast Garlic. If you’re a garlic lover, then you are head over heels for roasted garlic. Buy a few bulbs, peel off some of the papery outer layer and cut off the top. Place in a baking dish (top side up), drizzle with olive oil and roast at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes. You can store your roasted garlic in the fridge for a few days, freeze in ice cube trays for later or simply enjoy the delectable cloves right then and there!
– Buy Tickets for the Next Garlic Festival. Unfortunately, garlic festivals in the U.S. are in July and August, much later than National Garlic Day, but don’t let that stop you! Every festival is different, but they are all sure to include a variety of garlic treats. Detroit’s Garlic & Music Festival is the last weekend of August where you can enjoy garlicky eats, live music, cold beverages, fun and games. Or if you’re interested in making a trip, Gilroy, California is dubbed the Garlic Capital of the World and hosts their annual festival the last weekend of July. According to some, when even driving near the city, you can smell the pungent aroma of garlic! Just because these festivals don’t fall on National Garlic Day, doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate later!
– A Garlicky Feast. From garlic bread to forty-clove roasted chicken, a phenomenal feast for your family is a sure-fire way to show (and taste) your love for garlic. Plan your meal, shop ahead and prep a little the night before so if you have a busy day, you can still make a hearty feast that night!
– Vampire Movie Night. Have a night in with a few scary vampire movies! You can make sure that you feel safe and protected by stringing some garlic around your neck. Even better, melt some butter along with garlic and grated parmesan cheese to pour over your popcorn and you will keep those pesky blood-suckers away while enjoying your tasty snack!
– Host a Garlic Cook-Off. Love cooking competitions? Pick up loads of garlic and make sure you have a full pantry of various ingredients. Challenge your friends to make a dish with what they can find in your pantry, and the dish must include garlic! You can time it and if you really want to make it challenging, give them some other mandatory ingredients! You can always have two competitors go head to head at a time and make sure to have a couple of people to sit as judges. Don’t forget to film it – you’ll want to remember this!
– Experiment! Garlic is very versatile. Buy some bulbs and use National Garlic Day as an excuse to try something new! Maybe you have always wanted to make your own garlic-infused oil, or you’re challenging yourself to make a garlic dessert! There are so many ways to utilize the hearty bulb that we love so dearly.
To all the garlic lovers out there, we hope you have a Happy Garlic Day!
