"There is more than one kind of garlic? I thought garlic was garlic."That's correct. There are actually 10 main varieties of garlic in existence and within those 10, over 600 sub-varieties! Grocery stores will often only have one option available and for simplicity will label it merely as "garlic" instead of specifying the actual variety and/or sub-variety. Think of it like chewing gum. You can call all gum just "gum," but what about Juicy Fruit versus Spearmint? Both gum, yet very different flavors. The same is true for garlic varieties. Variety also plays a role in your garlic's overall shelf-life.
"What is a garlic scape?"A garlic scape is the flower stalk of the garlic plant which is only present with "hardneck" varieties. If you were to see it, you would likely say it resembles a curly-looking green bean, but it is much more complex than that. These are harvested early-mid June in Michigan and are a great addition to many recipes, including pestos, salads, soups and more!
"Why should I spend more money for garlic when it's so cheap at a grocery store?"Well, like everything, you get what you pay for. Yes, garlic from a farmer directly is going to be more than big box stores/markets (industry average price for Certified Organic garlic directly from a garlic farm is $18-22 per pound, not including S&H costs), but the benefits far outweigh the cost. Some benefits (to name a few) include; supporting local agriculture, knowing exactly where your garlic is coming from, knowing how it's grown and who's growing it personally. Plus, if it's Certified Organic you get the assurance knowing it is grown responsibly without harmful chemicals so it's a healthier crop overall. The majority of garlic at major chains is grown outside of the United States (most commonly China) and shipped overseas. To survive the long journey from harvest to the actual stores, this garlic is often coated in chemicals. Just thinking about how long this garlic is stored in a barge to make it across the ocean makes us cringe! When you buy local, you are literally getting it straight from the farm. You can't get any fresher than that! :)

"What is your return policy?"Unfortunately sometimes things don't always work out, but we'll try our best to make things right. All food-items are returnable for a full refund within 48 hours after receipt and all non-food items are returnable for a full refund within 5 days after receipt. No other refunds will be given beyond 5 days after receipt (note: pre-order transactions are fully refundable within 30 days of purchase and then the "48 hours after receipt" rule applies). Refunds will only be issued if; (1) the return was initiated within the applicable timeframe (we define "initiated" as; you contacted us about the issue(s) and dropped off the item(s) to the shipping carrier of your choice), (2) you obtained and emailed us the corresponding tracking number and (3) the item(s) has been officially received by us. You are responsible for covering the shipping costs back to us, but once we receive the item(s), assuming the item(s) are in acceptable condition, we will issue you a coupon in the amount of the shipping costs you incurred which you can use towards a future purchase. A tracking number must be obtained and sent to us via email when returning items. If a tracking number is not provided to us, we assume no liability of the item(s) and the refund is subject to cancellation. If you have an issue with an item(s), please let us know directly by emailing us at email@example.com to initiate a return.
"I live in or near Mason, Michigan, is there a way for me to order online but pick-up my order in person?"Yes, definitely! All customers living within applicable GLGF Farm-to-Home cities (Mason, MI / Lansing, MI / East Lansing, MI / Holt, MI / Okemos, MI) have the option to order online and pick-up their goods for free at an upcoming farmers market date. In order to eliminate the S&H charge, please enter the coupon code FMPU at checkout to designate free farmers market pick-up. You will receive an email and/or call from us confirming the exact delivery day/time/location. Please note, you must be present and show proper I.D. to receive your goods. If you are a "no show" without at least 24-hour prior notice more than two (2) times, your order is forfeited and a refund will not be given. Also, if at checkout you opted for free farmers market pick-up but decided later to have your goods delivered or you used the FMPU coupon but actually do not qualify for free farmers market pick-up (i.e. you live too far away to pick it up personally), you will be required to pay for shipping/handling in a separate transaction prior to goods being sent.
